Donato`s in Alpine

We've tried 3 times so far and service awful each time. This time we walked out after not being acknowledged for over 10 minutes.

Waitress great, great service, nice atmosphere, but meal was bland.

Great Italian cuisine in Alpine, CA. The pasta & sauces are tasty. It is a great place to order delicious pizza that is a cut above the usual chain outlets. The staff are friendly and efficient. Recommended!

Came in hangry and left content! Kept it simple and just had pizza and antipasto salad. Pizza was hot and cheesey and the salad was crisp & cold. Service was fast and friendly and the restaurant is clean. Nice patio for outside dining with your pet and a nice separate bar area too.

Alpine's best pizza place. Never had to ask for extra cheese, it's got plenty! The garlic chicken Caesar salad is fab. I like the little bar area, too.

We've been coming here for many many years and the service and the food is always consistently good.

The cheese and toppings kept falling off but still not a bad place to get a pizza.

This is the pizza they gave us after messing up our order. First and last time here.EDIT: So I have gone back to Donatos since they messed up our order twice. Played it safe & ordered a regular cheese pizza. That was delicious.

This place is fantastic! Affordable prices, considerable dishes and the employees are constantly nice.

Slow service...when hardly any customers.When paying our bill up front, the 2 young female employees were having their own conversation about highschool stories.Food was unsatisfactory.Restaurant itself was nice.

They must have found our pizza at the bottom of a gas station trash bin. The guy at the 7/11 in El Cajon makes better pizza than the cook at this place. I don’t know who stumbled into the kitchen to toss the slop we were served into the oven, but the pizza came with a puddle of liquid in the center of the pan. The waitress didn’t ask if there was any problem, even as she witnessed me drain a half cup of edemic fluid into a bowl of marinara sauce. Even a bird flying by would have expressed its concern for a soaking wet pizza being siphoned onto a plate. I was charged $19 for a bowl of rigatoni with crisco disguised as olive oil, sad tomatoes, and depressed colorless mushrooms. Good luck to you Donatos, but I’m sticking to the tavern.

Delicious pizza!

Great pizza, when they're aren't being rushed. Also let me add this, when you take a slice and the whole cheese and toppings come off, ah I don't know, but I kinda like this place, it's a hit or miss, don't know if it's the same person making the pizza, who knows......

Just had dinner at Donato's Italian Restaurant. Great little romantic spot. Friendly staff. I can't wait until the next time I roll through town for another bite. I will try the pizza next time.

This has been one of my favorite Italian places since I was 5! The absolute best thing on the menu is the gnocchi. It is the best, and the closest, I can get to my uncle franc who used to make it from scratch. If you are in alpine and want amazeballz Italian food you have to stop at donato's!

Very good pizza. Full of mozerella cheese and very authentic tasting. The xl deluxe pizza was so good and fed 5 people.

Ambience was really nice . The service was exceptional. The whole experience was what I have wanted and did expect it to be. It's too bad for a Friday night it wasn't busier. I can't say too much about the quality of the food because we only had pizza which I'm sorry to say being from Chicago my expectations are higher and I have had better . The ingredients were as fresh as can be but it lack sauce and a good crust for the cheese to hold on to. I don't like eating pizZa where the cheese separates completely from the reat of the pizza . That's just my opinion and I don't mean to offend anyone. I did see on the menu which seems to be rare , cannelloni which is one of my favorite dishes and I have not had it in years. I didn't order it because pizza was what we ordered but I'm hoping next time to try it and I'm hoping that it's as good and worth the price they're charging for it .Overall it wasn't bad but a nice dining out experience.

Great pizza best in Alpine and in my opinion all East County.The staff and bartenders are awesome and always friendly.

My absolute favorite pizza period. They have a great menu with all your favorites and some! They have a bar area, dining area and even a small outdoor patio for those perfect Alpine days/nights.

The Rigatoni Fra Diavalo is the BEST anywhere!! Most Italian restaurants don't offer this dish and the ones that do don't make nearly as good. For no other go there and have this dish. If you like spicy you're gonna love it!

I have eaten at Donato's for over 20 years and enjoy the entire menu, but the gorgonzola and walnut salad is a part of any visit.

Me and my wife just came to get pizza no one came out to seat us we could hear them talking in the back after waiting a while we tried call out for them an still no one came so we ended up just leaving. It's sad I really wanted pizza.

Great food and service

My wife and i stopped in for The first time last night. I liked the feel of the this place. Old school Italian restaurant. Being half Italian I liked the whole experience.My wife had the pizza (which she loved) and I had the eggplant parmesan. It was just like my Mom makes.I can see why this place has been in business so long. The staff was nice. Our waitress was really funny. They also have a nice patio to eat out on.If your ever in the Alpine area check this place out for authentic Italian food.

Cozy and warm atmosphere, they will remember you. Only been there for lunch. 1 pizza can feed my whole crew. Thumbs up gals you are great.
